Preston Alexander
CEO
Preston is the co-founder and CEO of Forward Slash / Health. He began his career in the medical device industry as a product manager, quickly rising through the ranks and within 2 years was managing over $100M in portfolio value. Not one to stand still long, Preston set off on his own, launching a medical device company. With equal speed, the business was sold less than 2 years after launch.
During his time working in device, Preston felt there was a misalignment in healthcare. In order to discover the answer for himself, he started writing and meeting with healthcare leaders across the country. Eventually, he encapsulated much of his learning in the popular newsletter, The Healthcare Breakdown and daily writing on LinkedIn.
Preston set his sights beyond writing about healthcare to do something about it. Combining his entrepreneurial talents, lessons learned from successes, he set out to start a company that would help rebalance healthcare by putting doctors back in the driver seat. He believes in the fundamental relationship of patients and their physicians, and works daily to enable physicians to own their practices and the future of healthcare.
Preston holds an MBA from Georgia State University and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from University of Colorado. Preston lives in Atlanta, GA with his wife and two incredible daughters. He hopes to provide them with a better healthcare future.
Sarah Covington
GC & Compliance Officer
Sarah Covington is a multifaceted professional with expertise in healthcare operations and practices healthcare law. In addition to founding co-founding Forward Slash / Health, she serves as an adjunct professor at NAU, teaching undergraduate Healthcare Law and MBA courses. Sarah also serves as a Bar Commissioner for the State of South Dakota.
Sarah’s legal career began at a top 20 law firm in the IP & AI Practice Groups. She has also authored a legal textbook, drafted and enacted legislation in South Dakota protecting the rights of individuals with disabilities, and is licensed in both South Dakota and Arizona. Sarah has received several honors, including being named a Rising Star by the South Dakota Bar Association in 2022.
Prior to going to Law School, Sarah held executive positions at several large health systems across the country, primarily responsible for revenue cycle and clinical operations. She was a founding member of a healthcare technology company, where she served as it’s Chief Operating Officer.
Sarah holds a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from the University of Dayton School of Law, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude, and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) in Health Care Administration/Management from Harding University. Currently, she is pursuing a Master of Law (LLM) in Transnational Law at the University of Dayton School of Law.
